The mature-looking responsible young daddy-man in the picture opposite is David--though for the life of me I usually can't remember his given name; I've called him Haldir since he was a wee laddie--and his sweet sweet little family, comprised of his beautiful lady Kika and bouncing baby Tricky, whose birth I heralded in an earlier post.
Anyway, Haldir's about 20 today, and so LET US ALL TOAST TO THE SECOND DECADE!!!! WOOHOO! You made it, dude! Once you're past twenty, they don't let you off as easily, heh heh, so mind your P's and Q's.
Seriously now, we wish you the merriest of birthdays, Haldir, and may this year be awesome and wonderful in every way. If last year you were getting ready for fatherhood, this year will be an endless series of new joys (i.e., when your kid starts going to sleep before 3 a.m.), new thrills (i.e., when your kid takes his first step), and new emotions (i.e., when you know you ought to correct Tricky for some misdemeanour instead of laughing loud and long at his cutieness)--so get ready, buckle up, and bring your budding family over to our place more often, it really would be lovely to see y'all more often. Cheers, hugs, and a great big imaginary birthday cake to you! Hip hip, Hurrah!!
Footnote: (Me and my footnotes!)
A couple years ago we hosted a pirate-themed party, and what do you know, Haldir's costume and assumed demeanour as Cap'n Jack Sparrow (complete with dreadlocks) earned him the rank of KING OF PIRATES for the evening. Mariete won the title of PIRATE QUEEN, and they had a duel with swords, but nobody thought to take any pix of that event, alas.
